Referral Pathways

No referral? That’s okay!

A referral is not required to book an appointment. Clients are welcome to self-refer and attend sessions on a full fee-paying basis.

Many people choose this option for a range of reasons. Some prefer not to use a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) due to personal, privacy, or occupational considerations. Others have already used their Medicare-subsidised sessions for the calendar year and wish to continue therapy without interruption.

If you are accessing therapy without a referral, sessions are simply charged at the standard consultation fee.

Some clients are also able to claim a partial rebate through their private health insurance extras cover. If you have extras cover, it may be helpful to check with your insurer whether psychological services are included in your policy and what rebate amount may apply.

Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

If you’re eligible, your GP can prepare a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral letter addressed to Anastasia Ivleva – Psychologist. This allows you to claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

To get started:

  1. Book a long appointment with your GP
  2. Ask for a Mental Health Care Plan and referral
  3. Upload your MHCP when booking your first session.

I submit your Medicare claim on your behalf after each eligible session. The rebate is typically deposited directly into your nominated bank account within 1–3 business days.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)

I am registered with DVA and can provide psychological services for veterans holding a White or Gold Card.

To access services under DVA:

  1. You will need a referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or treating medical specialist.
  2. The referral should be addressed to Anastasia Ivleva – Psychologist.
  3. DVA covers the full cost of your sessions, so there are no out-of-pocket expenses.

White Card holders are eligible for sessions where the psychological support is related to an accepted condition (e.g. PTSD, anxiety, chronic pain, etc). Gold Card holders are eligible for treatment of any condition.

How it works:

  • Obtain a valid referral from a GP
  • Provide your DVA card number and referral before your first appointment
  • I will bill DVA directly—there’s no need to handle payment or claim rebates yourself

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, your GP or the DVA support line can clarify your entitlements.

If you’re unsure about what referral pathway is right for you, you’re welcome to book a free 10-minute call with me, and we can discuss the options together.

  • All costs are covered by QPS — there are no out-of-pocket fees

  • Additional sessions may be requested if clinically indicated and approved by QPS Wellbeing

How to book

  1. Upload your Self-Referral Program approval letter when booking (issued by QPS Wellbeing)
