Informed Consent Policy
This policy outlines important information regarding your psychological treatment at Organic Psychology. Please read carefully and raise any questions or concerns directly with your psychologist.
Confidentiality and Its Limits
Information discussed in therapy sessions is confidential. However, exceptions apply, including:
- If there’s an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others
- Mandatory reporting obligations (e.g., child abuse, elder abuse)
- Legal requirements (e.g., court subpoenas)
- Professional supervision (identifiable information removed)
Telehealth Consent
For telehealth (online therapy) sessions conducted via Zanda’s secure video platform:
- Please confirm your location and that it is secure and private.
- Keep your phone nearby in case of connection issues.
- If the session is disconnected, your psychologist will attempt to call or reconnect.
- Ensure you won’t be disturbed for the duration of the session.
- Allow yourself approximately 5 minutes before the session to settle and prepare mentally.
- All standard confidentiality and record-keeping practices apply equally to telehealth sessions.
Session Structure and Expectations
Sessions are offered in two formats:
- Standard sessions: 50 minutes
- Extended sessions: 80 minutes
Fees are charged according to session length and are payable via Zanda’s secure online payment system. Payment is typically processed automatically following your session. Medicare or private health rebates may apply, depending on your eligibility and provider. Clients are responsible for ensuring up-to-date referral and rebate documentation where applicable.
Frequency typically begins as weekly or fortnightly sessions, progressing to monthly as therapy goals are achieved. Therapy involves collaboratively setting specific goals for defined periods (e.g., 3 months focusing on DBT skills). Goals and progress are reviewed regularly to ensure therapy remains structured, targeted, and meaningful.
Risks and Benefits
Engaging in therapy can lead to significant personal insights and emotional growth. However, it may also involve emotional discomfort or temporary symptom fluctuations as challenging topics are explored. Specific risks and benefits, particularly related to EMDR, will be discussed with you individually.
Professional Records
Clinical records are securely maintained, adhering to strict privacy and confidentiality standards (see Privacy Policy for details).

You have the right to:
